Cala Macarella in Menorca forms a near-perfect horseshoe-shaped cove, where clear turquoise water sits between steep limestone cliffs and dense pine forest. The enclosed shape of the bay offers reliable shelter from wind and swell, which means you will find consistently calm, glassy conditions that are less common along more exposed stretches of the Mediterranean. Despite being one of the island’s more visited beaches, its location within a protected area keeps development minimal and the overall setting largely intact. The contrast between rugged cliffs, shaded greenery, and bright, reflective water gives Cala Macarella a perfect Mediterranean character.

THE PERFECT DAY AT The Baths

  • CALM SEAS

    Though there is a very small risk of hurricanes, and there are more rainy days, the ocean is much calmer May through November. We particularly love the Caribean in October and November, as the ocean is in a postcard state if there are clear skies.

  • WIND

    Look for days where the wind will be blowing from behind the beach towards the water, as well as days with little to no wind.

  • CLEAR SKIES

    Sunny days are more likely between December to April, however visits during May through November are underrated, with calmer seas.

  • TIME OF DAY

    Increase the chances of having a stretch of The Baths all to yourself by visiting early in the day.
